Aussie electro pop band Cut Copy have brought out the first taster of their so far unnamed third album. It’s called ‘Where I’m Going’ and first listens are giving off less of an electro sound than usual for them.

I’m hearing initial Arcade Fire influences here actually, although the more the song progresses the more the synths start to take over.

Cut Copy are calling this one a ‘good old chant’, which makes sense with their use ‘yeah’s and ‘oohs’ during the chorus, similar to how Muse created a chanting style for ‘Uprising’.

So there you go, I didn’t think we could compare Cut Copy to Arcade Fire and Muse, but thats the similarities I’m hearing on first listen.

Great Lakes have been around since 1996 but this is their first release where Ben Crum features as the primary songwriter so it’ll be interesting to hear how the new album sounds. An acoustic piece that’s tinged with emotion throughout, as opposed to the more light-hearted feel of their previous work, it’s clear that the band have taken a different direction for their new LP. If Summer Fruit is anything to go by then this new approach is definitely working. More please.

Aeroplane’s first single since becoming a one-man show. With pure disco brilliance and hints of summer Balearic scents throughout, the ironically named We Can’t Fly, is out now.

The release is in anticipation of the Belgium’s first LP which is due out in the autumn.

One is without doubt the biggest tune of the summer and so it’s not surprising that the remixes have already started to flood in. Here’s Caspa’s retake where he plays around with Pharrell’s (fairly irrelevant) vocals to good effect and slows the tempo ready to be dropped into any dubstep set. Not that that would be a good idea at all but it’s a worthy take on the original nonetheless.
