Massive Attack collaborate with Tunde Adebimpe for new EP

Massive Attack‘s new ‘Splitting The Atom’ EP features a song with guest vocals from TV on the Radio‘s Tunde Adebimpe.

The long awaited new material from the pioneers of trip-hop is set to be released in October and will be a preview of a fifth full length release from the duo. The album, pencilled for a Spring 2010 release, is confirmed to have guest vocals from Blur and Gorillaz man Damon Albarn also.

The track with Adebimpe, entitled ‘Pray For Rain’, is typically brooding, with a slow build up, where the singer barely gets the chance to step up to his higher keys. It is a good job Tunde is so good at keeping his voice restrained yet prominent at the same time, and he provides ideal vocals for the song.

I had largely forgotten about Massive Attack it has been so long since they were in the limelight. But they have 14 tour dates for September and October across the UK. Tickets are still sporadically available. Sorely tempted to add to my increasing pile of future gig tickets.
